Layna Himmelberg, Ed.D., MSN, CNE became a member of the Clarkson College community in 2002. During her time here, she has served as Skills Lab Coordinator, Professor, and the Director of Graduate Nursing before being appointed Vice President of Academic Affairs in 2023. She holds an Associate’s degree in Nursing from College of St. Mary, a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management from Bellevue University, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from Clarkson College. She earned her Doctoral degree in Education from College of St. Mary.
In her current role, Dr. Himmelberg provides leadership to the academic affairs of the institution. She is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supporting continual improvement and institutional accreditation, as well as specialized accreditation of each of the academic programs to support education and retention of students. During her time at Clarkson College, she has served as a member of Omicron Epsilon, National Society of Leadership and Success, Faculty Senate, and the International Review Board (IRB) committee. Dr. Himmelberg also has experience as a nurse administrator in the home health and assisted living fields.
Outside the College, Dr. Himmelberg serves as a Peer Evaluator for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
