Michael Ehrecke joined Clarkson College as an Admissions Counselor in 2019. He predominantly worked with applicants for the Undergraduate Nursing and Radiography and Medical Imaging programs. In 2022, Michael transitioned into the People & Culture Administrator role, where he leads the development, implementation, and assessment of policies and initiatives that enrich the experiences of students, faculty, staff, and external constituents. Michael’s ultimate goal is to ensure engagement with and within Clarkson College is collaborative, empowering, and transformational.

Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. His first professional contract was with CLIMB Theatre in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro, where he developed and facilitated interactive plays centered on social-emotional learning with PreK-12 students. This experience led Michael to work with other education-related organizations to cultivate a college-going mindset in students with diverse backgrounds and experiences, including an AmeriCorps term of service with College Possible Minnesota. Michael also worked as an Admissions Counselor at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, before starting at Clarkson College.

In April 2023, Michael became a Qualified Administrator (QA) of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), a reliable and cross-culturally valid assessment of the complexity with which an individual experiences and responds to cultural commonalities and differences. He leads an internal team of QAs that is responsible for conducting individual and group debriefs after respondents complete their IDI assessments, as well as planning and facilitating intercultural learning experiences. Michael also serves as Staff Senate President and a co-chair for both the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee (DEIBC) and Wellness Committee. He is a member of the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Committee and Student Support Committee (SSC) and co-advises the Student Government Association (SGA).

Michael enjoys cooking, exercising, reading, and traveling in his leisure time. He continually strives to broaden his personal and professional horizons by surprising and stretching himself outside what is familiar to him. Michael continues to be inspired by the immersive learning environment at Clarkson College and finds great fulfillment in manifesting the Mission of the institution.
