Dr. Nicole Shives started her career as an athletic trainer at Iowa Western Community College in 2007. She transitioned to a faculty member in 2010 and taught Human Biology, Anatomy and Physiology I, and Anatomy and Physiology II. Dr. Shives came to Clarkson College in 2016. She is an active member of the college community and has chaired many Faculty Senate Standing Committees and participated in multiple college-wide committees and taskforces. In addition, Dr. Shives presents to local schools and clubs who come to campus to learn more about healthcare.

Dr. Shives holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in athletic training from the University of Northern Iowa and another master’s degree in biology from the University of Nebraska Kearney. Her doctoral degree is in Healthcare Education and Leadership from Clarkson College. Dr. Shives teaches Human Anatomy in the General Education and Health Sciences department and Anatomy and Physiology in the Healthcare Business department.
