Sarah Swanson, B.S.Ed., MPH, is an adjunct professor within the Clarkson College Community Health Program as well as an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center Munroe-Meyer Institute, the state’s federally designated University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Ms. Swanson is currently a PhD student in the UNMC College of Public Health’s Disease Prevention/Health Promotion program. Her research and clinical interests include providing person and family-centered care, alignment of peer-to-peer support workers to the Community Health Worker movement, Medicaid financing, and disability policy.

At the Munroe-Meyer Institute, Ms. Swanson workds as the Primary Investigator of several grants that support the Family Care Enhancement Project (FCEP), a program that places fifteen Parent Resource Coordinators (PRCs), parents of children with disabilities who have specialized training, in locations across the state of Nebraska. These PRCs fall within the category of ‘Community Health Worker’ and are being integrated as members of primary and specialty care interdisciplinary care teams across the state within ten different health systems/clinics. PRCs also serve as members of Nebraska’s Aging and Disability Resource Center and as the Care Coordination team for Help Me Grow (HMG) Nebraska, a national program being recognized for its coordinated approach to supporting children who are at risk of developmental delays and connecting them to needed resources.

Ms. Swanson is a native Nebraskan. She is married and has 3 children. She enjoys traveling, reading, spending time by the water, and trying new foods.
