Clarkson College has not always been a college. Instead, we began in 1888 as a school of nursing—the first in the state of Nebraska. Over the last 125 years, we've established a new campus, expanded our program offerings and adopted a new name. All the while, we've maintained a commitment to preparing our students to be the best in various realms of health care. Shaylene Baumgartner has been a faculty member at Clarkson College since 2019. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from Nebraska Methodist College. Along with teaching in the Undergraduate Nursing program, Ms. Baumgartner works in the Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha, Nebraska as a staff nurse and has several years of experience in oncology.

Apart from her teaching and professional responsibilities, Ms. Baumgartner volunteers at her church as well as the Open Door Mission organization in Omaha, Nebraska.
