Danna Voorhes Swartz

Instructor

Danna Voorhes Swartz joined Clarkson in 2020 and teaches undergraduate writing and communication and graduate writing in the General Education department. Her primary area of interest is in cross-cultural communication and how that impacts health care inequities. Her undergraduate degree in Journalism is from Drake University and her graduate degree in Communication is from the University of Nebraska Omaha. In addition to teaching, she is a consultant in the Writing Lab where she assists students to enhance writing skills.

Prior to coming to Clarkson, Danna taught at Grace University where she focused on composition, business writing, public relations, and cross-cultural communication. Danna also teaches seminars at the University of Nebraska Omaha throughout the year. Additionally, she has more than 25 years of experience working with nonprofits on grant writing, public relations, event planning, and fundraising projects. She also has authored children’s books for international markets.

When she is not at Clarkson, she can be found working with Pads for Pupils stateside or in east Africa. This group is committed to empowering young women whose lack of access to menstrual supplies is keeping them from finishing school and reaching their full potential.
