Dr. Jenette Smith joined Clarkson College as an instructor in the Doctor of Healthcare Education and Leadership (Ed.D.) program in 2021. She holds a Doctor of Healthcare Education and Leadership degree from Clarkson College, as well as a certified Diplomate in Lifestyle Medicine (DipACLM) from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. In addition, Dr. Smith holds a Master of Science degree in Health Education/Studies in Aging from the University of North Texas.
Dr. Smith’s career in health care education includes serving in teaching and leadership positions in higher education, inclusive higher education, and nonprofit organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and the elderly.
Dr. Smith has devoted over 30 years to serving as an educator, ally, and advocate for individuals with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers. She currently serves on the Advisory Board, in fundraising, and as Vice-President of the Board of Directors for a nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), stroke, and the elderly. In addition, Dr. Smith serves on the Clarkson College Alumni Board of Directors, and serves Clarkson College in committee work, including the Interprofessional Education Committee, among others.
In 2022, Dr. Smith established the Dr. Jenette Smith Endowed Scholarship to support our Clarkson College Doctor of Healthcare Education and Leadership students.
